The whole internet seems to evolve around search engine optimization and, to some extent, rightly so. The search engine ranking of websites and articles play a significant role in the traffic quantity and quality that is received to the website. This makes it clear just why so many people put so much time to finding every possible way to improve the SEO of a website. To continue this, here are 23 quick tips you can implement onto your website/articles to further improve the search engine ranking of it/them.

  1. Write longer articles, plus 1,000 words.
  2. Reduce the time taken for your page to load. The quicker the better.
  3. Use different headings throughout your content – the more variation, the easier it is for robots to crawl through your content and understand it.
  4. Add links in your content:
    1. Internal links to other pages on your website
    2. High quality outbound links to recognized quality resources
  5. Get rid of any broken links that are in your content/on your website – broken links will negatively affect SEO.
  6. Make your content more readable – if web users are reading your content for longer, Google will recognize this when they land onto your page from the search engine results page.
  7. Use meta titles – this allows you to have a keyword rich title for Google search results and a different title for when people land onto your article
  8. Use meta description – this allows you to fill your description with keywords, as well as choosing how to best summarize your article (instead of allowing Google to automatically do this).
  9. Use the full range of tools, such as bullet points, italicsbold, quotations and more to add variation to your content.
  10. Structure your URL to make sure it includes the keywords of your article in it.
  11. Add keywords to your images.
  12. Respond to comments when they arise – the more comments an article receives and the more conversations there are in them, the better.
  13. Always improve content, even if you wrote it months/years ago. Content can be improved at anytime to further improve the SEO of it.
  14. Have a responsive theme for your website. This will help mobile traffic especially since Google now uses the mobile version of websites to index from.

  16. Have a sitemap.xml
  17. Have a tree structure to your website, to make navigating for web users and robots easy.
