When asked the question ‘how can you increase traffic to your blog?’, most bloggers will reply with an answer stating to write articles for SEO benefits. Ultimately, this is the best way to gain consistent, high quality, organic traffic. However, there are other ways you can gain traffic to a website. A great way I will be looking at in this article is through pay per click advertising. There is the stereotype that advertisers only use PPC to make money. However, the reality is that there are thousands if not millions of bloggers worldwide that are using PPC campaigns to gain them high quality traffic.

To convince a blogger to create a PPC campaign will be very difficult. The aims of bloggers when it comes to making money online is to always keep costs as low as possible and concentrate on increasing advertising revenues. Therefore, there will be alot of bloggers that will be put off by the idea of increasing the cost of running a website. Saying this, here are some reasons why bloggers should use PPC to grow their website.

Traffic That Lasts

For bloggers that use Google Analytics, they will have access to the bounce rate of their website showing them how successful their website is in providing traffic that explores their site which doesn’t just ‘bounce’ away. From creating a PPC campaign aimed at a blogger’s website, the contextual side to PPC will help in providing traffic to the website that has a keen interest in the contents of that website. This, in turn, will provide much more positive-looking results when analysed in Google Analytics  The traffic from PPC will be much healthier giving you the chance to increase your audience-size socially and on RSS feeds.

Cheap

For those that use the publishing side to PPC, you will have seen the CPC of adverts at around $0.50 and up. From this, bloggers feel that they will have to pay the same per click when running their PPC campaign. However, this is wrong. CPCs are affected by the keywords chosen in the campaign. If you managed to choose low paying keywords at literally cents, the cost of your campaign will be extremely low while providing good amounts of traffic. The important idea to remember is that you need to choose the right keywords for your campaign.

Easy Traffic

When you take out the financial perspective of PPC, from a blogger’s perspective, it an easy and quick way to gain short or long term traffic to your website. Writing enough articles to gain consistent traffic may take quite a long time. Trying to look at other aspects of your website means you have no time to write articles and bring traffic into it. Whatever your excuse is, you can rely on PPC to become a source of traffic for your website.

It Can Make You Money!

Again, bloggers are turned away by PPC as a traffic source because they think it will cost them. However, if your website is good in gaining conversions, it can make you money! The traffic from PPC, when on your website:

  • May buy your eBook if you have advertised it and have one.
  • May click on another advertising program advert.
  • May become a subscriber which is always good.
  • Request articles for you at a price.

The list can go on and on. PPC traffic not only provides traffic to bloggers – it provides the opportunity to make your blog more money too.
