When it comes to Facebook advertising, you have a lot of options. You can build out your own Facebook Fan Page, direct link to a web site or ad campaign, or create your own landing pages. You will also have to think about the end goal for your ad campaign. Are you looking to bring in new readers, create awareness around your brand, or actually make money by driving sales and leads?

No matter which of the options above you decide on, all of them are attainable through the use of Facebook Ads. Below I have listed three different ways you can build ad campaigns around Facebook, and examples for each and how they are growing their business.

Build Awareness:
Reach a large audience with a widely targeted ad campaign

Example: When you are advertising on Facebook Ads, you aren’t only getting exposure when someone clicks on your ad, but also every time it is seen. If you are buying traffic on a CPC basis, you are still getting some branding exposure every time your ad is seen, but not clicked. One example is the Affilion banner ads that are currently being advertised to people interested in “affiliate marketing”. Even though I haven’t clicked on their advertisements lately, their name and logo keeps getting branded into my head as their ad continually appears on my. When you click on their ad, it would send you to their Affilion Fan Page.

Drive Sales:
Offer special deals and giveaways in your ad campaign to bring people into your store

Example: Flippa.com has been running a few ad campaigns which target Facebook users who are interested in “clickbank” and “web site” related terms. When you click on any of their advertisements, it will bring you to a form on their site to sell your web site. This is a perfect example of Flippa using Facebook Ads to increase sizes on their web site.

Grow Your Fan Base:
Encourage people to like your Page by offering valuable benefits for engaging

Example: Facebook has increased the amount of exposure and value in liking a quality product like no one has before. Nearly all companies are creating fan pages where people can “like” their product and share that information with others. Chivas USA has not only created their own fan page, but they are also advertising it to increase their fan base. They are currently at over 7,000 fans.

As you can see, there are many different ways to advertise on Facebook. Whether you want to grow your brand awareness, increase sales or build your own fan base, it’s all about testing and seeing what works best for you.
