If you have a website that is generating traffic for you, then it can be generating you revenue. The more traffic you receive to your website, the likelier you are to make more money from it.

There are many different ways to increase the traffic going to a website, with mainly SEO and SEM being a continuous focus for website owners. Once you have your website generating traffic, the next step is to use a platform to monetize it.

From having several years experience creating and monetizing websites, it is safe to say that I have tried, pretty much, every platform and way of making money out there. With this in mind, here are my top three ways to monetize a website for 2018.

#1 Ezoic (PPC Advertising)

Ezoic is a certified Google Adsense partner, which means they can utilize the Adsense network to deliver PPC adverts to publishers. What is special about Ezoic, though, is the fact that they use machine learning and artificial intelligence to determine what units perform best when, where on the website, and to what web user. For example, an advert about cereal might get a better response in the morning than to during the afternoon.

In general, it is not shocking to see the revenue you produce using Ezoic, as compared to Google Adsense, increase 3-5 times. This makes it, from my experience, by far the best way to monetize a website.

#2 Affiliation Marketing

Of course, this depends on the type of content you have on your website. If you are a website that tends to review products, provide an opinion or an insight into something that can be bought, then affiliate advertising might be your best option to monetize the website.

I chose this on the list because I had an article on one of my websites a few years back that was an honest review of a program. I added some affiliate links at the bottom and, to my surprise, the links ended up generating ten times more revenue than PPC advertising was for the whole website!

This makes it clear that if the reviews are honest and you can gain the trust of the web user, then affiliate advertising is very effective.

#3 Sponsored/Native Advertising

Native advertising is a fairly new form of advertising that has been getting attention over the last few years. It is notorious to know that web users ‘block’ out themselves from being exposed to adverts when they can identify clearly that they are adverts. What sponsored and native advertising does is advertise much more subliminally, in the sense of within content or adopting a similar structure to the website’s content and layout. From doing this, the exposure rate is greatly increased, increasing the monetization of such an advertising platform.
