Every now and then, it is a good idea to look at the updates going on in PPC and for June 2014, there seems to be some new updates for Google Adsense – the publisher side to Google’s PPC program Adwords. At the current rate of updates there are in pay per click advertising at the moment, I really cannot see any competitors from any other form of advertising like and banner advertising or Infolinks and in-text advertising.

Update #1 – New Ad Sizes

One of the few limitations I felt that Google Adsense had other competitors such as Media.net was the ad sizes they made available for publishers. However, Google have now made more ad sizes available to publishers with the new ones listed below:

  • 970×250
  • 300×1050

The clever thing about these advert sizes is that they work alongside the 300×350 and 160×600 adverts to display adverts from them two sizes. Therefore, you are not losing anything from using these adverts but gaining more ad space: increasing ad space will increase CTR. As well as this, they can also display content that better reacts with web users, leading to more clicks and conversions.

Another good feature Adsense has created is the ability to have custom sized adverts so that you are not limited in any way to what size adverts appear on your website. The only problem with this is that if you pick a weird size such as 318×288, you are unlikely to get many advertisers choosing that same size. Make sure to choose ad sizes that many advertisers have made campaigns around.

Update #2 – Wire Transfers Made More Global

Although this won’t seem a big update for English and American people, it will be a big deal for less fortunate countries where, to get payments from Adsense, they have been getting cheques in the post. I am one to use wire transfers for my Adsense account and it makes life so much easier since it automatically credits your Adsense earnings into your bank account. For millions of people, Adsense has just made their lives that bit more easier.

Conclusion – Adsense has just got a whole lot better

When it comes to making money through Adsense, there are a certain amount of significant variables that determines how much you basically make:

  • Your website
  • Advert sizes
  • Advert colours
  • Ad locations

These are the fundamentals to Adsense. With this in mind, Adsense has just released new ad sizes that will help publishers make much more money. I am excited to try out the new ad sizes on my website Ask Will Online and will make an article in the not too long future to see how the performance of Adsense on my website has changed.
