Quick Fire Tips For Users Of Google Adsense

When it comes to making money online through pay per click advertising, Quick Fire Tips For Users Of Google Adsensethe first place you should be looking at is Google Adsense. However, as easy as it sounds from other users’ experience and the ease-of-use of Adsense, it can become quite a tricky task to fully maximize the potential of Adsense: especially is you don’t quite know the ins and outs of PPC and Adsense. For this reason, here are some tips that I feel are mandatory to all publishers of Adsense to help them make as much money as possible with the traffic they gain from their websites.

Allow All Your General Categories

The first tip to optimizing your Adsense account is to make sure you allow all you general categories. The problem is that most publishers block categories before they have any real statistics about that category. The whole point of blocking categories is so that you can stop poor performing categories from showing adverts on your website. This means the higher paying categories will get more exposure on your website making you more money.

Then Block Low Performing Categories

Still part of the same tip, you will need to give it around 2-3 months of having all your general categories allowed before you even go near blocking them. After around 2-3 months, you will be able to see what percentage each category is contributing to the last 30 days earnings. The categories with the lowest percentage should be blocked. But, remember that you can only block 50 categories. Therefore, make sure you block the lowest performing categories first.

Allow Text And Image Adverts

With all your adverts on your website, you should enable them to be able to display both text and image adverts. This is because if you block either one of them, you are potentially stopping thousands, if not millions, of advertisers from bidding for your advert unit. Some advertisers only create campaigns for image adverts and some for just text adverts. Therefore, if you allow both, you can gain maximum competition for your advertising spaces which will make sure you get the highest CPC possible.

Stay Updated With Performance Reports

One neglected area of Adsense is definitely the performance reports tab. I have found that analysing you own reports helps significantly with improving revenue. I did this with my website AskWillOnline.com where I created a monthly article going through all the stats of the website and where I can improve. Of course, this helped me find the weak areas of my website which turned out to be my bounce rate (and I could then look onwards to improving it). If you stay updated with your performance reports on a timed basis such as once a week or month, you will be able to find the areas of your Adsense account which are not performing as well as they should. For example, I found when I looked at my performance reports that one of my advertising units was making next to nothing. For this reason, I looked to relocate it and change the colour scheme of the text adverts which did improve the performance of the unit.

Keep Experimenting

The best tip you can take away from this article is to make sure you keep on experimenting with:

  • Size of adverts.
  • Location of adverts.
  • Colour scheme/font of text adverts.
  • Allowing and blocking Categories.

If you keep doing this, you will find the formula to making the most money out of your website through PPC. You see, every website is different and will react differently to different combinations of the above. The key is to try and find the combination that best suits your website to make the most money.
