There are many different ways you can make money online. To name a few includes:

  • Pay per click advertising, and advertising of any sort in general
  • Sponsored content
  • Products and services to sell
  • Subscriptions

Most websites will have some form of advertising on them. Others might even have sponsored content on them. If you have enough followers, you might charge for a subscription of services. However, one area that bloggers look to make money from is in products. However, products could really make or break it for a blogger, such as selling an eBook.

Writing an eBook seems a risky business though. A lot of effort has to be invested to bring something to market, that you are unsure of if it will sell. Fear not though, here are some tips to creating your first eBook as a blogger, to make sure you know it will sell and go about the right process of creating it.

  • Is the information inside it freely available? This is the first question that should be asked when creating an eBook. If people can access similar information already, then what differentiates your book? What makes it worth buying? Is it because you gain lots of information, all relevant, in one place? Make sure your book offers people something that is currently not already out there in some format.
  • Who’s your audience? As a blogger, the best bet is to say that your audience will be those that visit your website. However, are they really the best audience? For example, if you are a website about promoting free music, do you really think a website about selling music is going to attract people? Make sure your book aligns with your target market that you chose, or the traffic you are able to generate from your website.
  • Make every chapter something different and new to learn about. The best way to make an eBook, or book, stand out when people read it is by making sure they are always learning something new when they read every chapter. If they don’t there will be a tendency for the web user to skip chapters, which will affect the review rating they give the book. The review rating will significantly impact the conversion rate of people buying your eBook.
  • Promote it properly. When you release your new eBook, people will simply not know about it. Therefore, it is important to promote it in the correct channels, to give it maximum exposure. Add landing pages and adverts on your website promoting it. Use PPC to target contextual traffic and use the results to see if you are gaining a positive return on investment (ROI) on the campaign from the cost of the campaign as opposed to the sales gained from the landing page.
