Have you ever thought about what it takes to run a successful local advertising campaign? What are the costs involved in setting up a local search campaign versus an offline print campaign?

According to the small business search marketing survey by American Express OPEN, U.S. small businesses can still count on word of mouth advertising as a way top bring in new shoppers to their retail stores and locations. Right behind word of mouth, the Internet is lurking there to become the number one source of customer generation. As more companies look to improve their online and mobile marketing, it’s only a matter of time before online local advertising is king.

– While 82 percent of respondents considered word of month advertising when looking for a local business, 66 percent also do research on the internet.

– Opinions matter: 58 percent of consumers trust a business that has a positive review online.
