Today Google released a new date range comparison in Google Adwords to all accounts (I Think) that is pretty sweet.  If you haven’t seen it or tried it out you should login to your Adwords account and get started using it.

The new PPC date range comparison ability in Google Adwords will now allow you to:

  • Compare dates
  • Previous period
  • Same period as last year
  • Custom

I personally like the “Same period as last year as it helps me compair year over year and see how we’re doing.

In this comparison I’m showing how much a client has spent last year over this year.  You can see that traffic is down half what it was at this time last year.  I went in and investigated everything and found out that we paused a particular Adgroup and stopped all traffic to a potentially very profitable campaign.

Today (because of the new ppc date range comparison) I was able to go in and see what was done to make this happen. I reverse-engineered the account and we’re back up to where we were last year.  We’re actually doing much better as we’ve taken out all the crap keywords that we shouldn’t be bidding on.  The account has almost doubled in conversions and money coming in.  This change should help us upp that even more.

I can’t wait for that to happen.
