Importance of Mobile PPC Ads (Case Study)

What is all this hype about mobile PPC ads?  Well, if you haven’t heard 1 in every 7 people on the planet has a mobile phone that has internet on it.  In the US alone nearly 65% of adults above 18 have a cellular device with internet enabled on it.  That’s a whole lot of iPhone’s running around the world.  This post will go over the importance of mobile PPC ads in today’s society.
What does this mean for the mobile PPC world?  It means that we’ve got a huge opportunity.  I want to talk to you today about mobile PPC by going over one of my clients sites.
Client:  http://www.beacheshealthgroup.com
Objective: To drive clients into local location for chiropractic help.  Local branding. Get the Beaches Health Group name out there.
Over the past couple years we’ve helped our client get tons of killer results.  Diving some very impressive leads to their location, gained tons of attention from the press and other local newspapers as well as helped client grow 20%.

With the mobile campaign we don’t spend a whole lot of money and are super targeted.  We also run regular search ads as well which I have blocked out.  As for the mobile ppc ads, we’d put the Campaign at $10/day which we don’t come anywhere close to hitting.  This is how much we’ve spend this month to day.  As you can see we only spend around $80/month, nothing really that big.  We do however get very good results from this ad.

Most ads that we show are only getting a 1.24% CTR over mobile which isn’t that great but not terrible.  I’ve seen much worse, especially in the hosting world.  From that 1.24% CTR and 11 clicks to the site we’ve gotten 3 people that have come into the shop and converted into customers because of it.  This has helped our clients business grow even more then ever before.

With mobile PPC you can get clients looking for your business from a specific location near you.  We try and only target mobile ads within 15 miles of our location.  These users are typically in their cars or walking down the road.  We try and always display a mobile friendly site to them and a map on the landing page.  When they click on the map they are guided to our location.  Success, they are now our customers.

We find that the majority of our clients come from mobile ads over search ads.  Why?  Cause mobile ads rock for most clients.  Some clients however that we’ve had in the past have performed horribly.  Make sure to be constantly testing mobile ads vs PPC.  Mobile advertising can be great for some businesses and disaster for others.  I don’t want you to waste your money, so if you’re planning on doing mobile ppc ads below are a few tips to getting the most out of your mobile PPC campaign.

  • Cap it at like $10/day for a week.
  • Make sure to ad location targeting and a 10-15 mile radius around your location
  • Extremely focused keywords, don’t bid on questionable keywords… only the ones that work in search.
  • Make sure you separate out your search campaign and mobile campaign into different campaigns.

By following the tips above you can make the most out of your local mobile PPC campaign.  Best of luck to you.  If you have any questions or would like me to take a look at your mobile campaign and look how you have it all set up, shoot me over an email and I’ll check it out.  Contact me here.
