Is BuySellAds A Competitor to PPC?

BuySellAds-Competitor-To-PPC.jpg

It’s a question that I guess many advertisers have already asked themselves and answered. BuySellAds.com currently is the market leader in banner advertising for the fact that they have the most advertisers, most publishers and best features and user interface. Can they be seen as a competitor to the likes of Google Adwords, Adsense and other PPC programs in general? It’s an interesting question considering that BuySellAds have recently ‘upped’ their game through improving their UI and adding extra features.

For this question, I am going to break it into an advertiser and publisher side for banner advertising seeing that you need advertisers and publishers to make any good advertising program.

Advertiser

From an advertiser’s perspective, BuySellAds is a dream to use. With thousands of advertisers to choose from, as an advertiser, you are sure to find a website worth advertising on. BuySellAds have also recently updated their user interface to make pages load faster and general browsing easier to use. The only downside is that it is the publishers that choose the price of adverts. So you may have to pay more than you want without guaranteeing yourself results: a problem with banner advertising in general.

When you visit BuySellAds, they pride themselves on the fact that you don’t have to bid against others for an advertising space which to me is a dig at PPC. It is a benefit that you don’t have to waste time bidding for clicks: in banner advertising, you see an advert and you buy it, simple. However, due to no competition and no bidding wars, publishers tend to overprice their adverts so that they gain the same CPC for their adverts as they would have done if they used PPC. Therefore, the price you pay per click won’t vary much changing from PPC to BuySellAds or the other way around.

Publisher

The publisher side to BuySellAds cannot be beaten if you are looking at monetizing your website through banner advertising. Simply place the codes on your website and let advertisers buy your ad spaces. My own website, AskWillOnline.com, was orginally making money through PPC and Adsense. However, since using BuySellAds, I have found it very difficult not to sell advertising spaces on my website. I have been making more money through BuySellAds than I would have done in a month with Adsense.

The best bit about BuySellAds is the fact that they only take 25% of your earnings compared to 32% of Adsense. From this, BuySellAds is easy to manage, easy to sell advertising space to advertisers and takes less money from your earnings. It seems the simple solution is to try them out from a publisher’s perspective…if you have enough traffic.

A slight problem BuySellAds has adopted is that they only accept websites with more than 10,000 ad impressions. This is not overall impressions because that would include impressions from people that use ad blockers. They only accept websites that get 10,000 impressions from the web users that don’t user ad blockers. For this reason, it can be deemed quite difficult getting enough traffic to get accepted by BuySellAds. However, this might be seen as a good thing. Advertisers will know that the websites that are on BuySellAds’ marketplace are of high quality with good traffic.

From this, are you going to try out BuySellAds be it from an advertiser side or publisher side? They have made many improvements to the service which has made many people question, including myself, whether to use them or not.

This is true. However, if BuySellAds know you have a record for making high traffic websites, they are fine with ‘bending’ rules and letting your new website become accepted. However, it’s in the grey area: it’s not black and white by what BuySellAds approve and deny to enter onto their marketplace.

Couldn’t agree more. Great system, I wish they would change their “dofollow” on all their ads though. It pisses me off!
