We learn by example, rather than just listening to someone talk. Today’s post is going to be about facebook ads that have recently gotten my attention. Some of these even caused me to purchase products that advertisers were selling. It’s important, as an advertiser, to always be on the look for great ads. As we examine these ads, I will teach you how to create winning facebook ads. When you apply the following concepts, you’ll dramatically improve your CTR (click-through-rate):
- flagging your prospect
- applying the ‘curiosity’ hook
- relevant picture to the ad
- free download, white paper, eBook, etc.
1. Example of Flagging Your Prospect
I took this screenshot a while back as it is a great example of flagging your prospect. A little background on Fiverr: they are a one-stop shop for many services. However, in this particular ad, they’ve chosen to target people interested in purchasing cheap and easy SEO gigs. When you flad a particular customer, you’ll designing your message so that it only targets them.
Here are some words that you can use when attempting to flag:
- Attention
- Struggling
- Mentioning the specific product, interest, service, need or desire
 2. Example #2 The ‘Curiosity’ Hook
I love this facebook ad and I call it the ‘curiosity’ ad. These ads are proven to get clicks. A person seeing this ad is curious and wants to know this “tweak”, because they believe it will get them more facebook likes. I believed it and it led me to click the ad to learn the tweak.
Words you can use to get people curious:
- formula
- secret
- blueprint
 3. Relevant Pictures, Landing Pages & Descriptions
This is a surefire way to make sure your ads either get approved or declined. They want to know if both your ad description and landing page are relevant. I have seen several irrelevant landing pages from AppSumo. While they know how to run really interesting ads, their landing pages say nothing about the ad copy and make you opt-in. It is irritating and actions like that increase your chances of getting declined; not to mention really low conversions- if they make it that far.
4. Free Download, White Paper, eBook, etc.Â
This ad is done by my friend Laura Roeder. She has done a terrific job of illustrating the point I’m about to make. She is offering a free report. I did, however, have to opt-in to receive it, but the landing page sold me on the benefits of this free report. Ads like this do a terrific job of building your email list and getting a high CTR.

Guilty of falling prey to #2, and good suggestion on the keywords.
