It’s always a task in itself to get started with new PPC ad campaigns, so doing a little research on the top trends before jumping into a new niche or category is always great. Here are a few places that can help you with finding what people are talking about and buying right now. Best of all, they are all free!
Google Trends
One of the most used tools out there for quickly find out what people are searching on, is the Google Trends tool. This area of Google is constantly updated with the latest search terms used on Google and will allow you to quickly spot the latest trends on what’s hot.
Bing Trends
Widen your search for the latest trends, but in a more exciting way through the use of Bing. Instead of a simple text chart, Bing will show you the latest search trends through the use of images, and allows you to go back to previous dates and see what the day’s hot topics were.
Amazon Top Sellers List
Amazon will always be one of the best free tools for marketers. It’s a complete resource of what people are actually buying right now, and even before they come out. With millions of products across thousands of niche categories, be sure to check out the top sellers list on Amazon for ideas on whats selling and future holiday trends.
Twitter Trends
Twitter has quickly become the number one source for instant news, as people report it once it happens. There are lots of different ways to track what people are talking about on Twitter. In this example we will use WhatTheTrend, which shows current trends on Twitter, which can also be sorted by locations around the world.
MixRank
Want to spy on the competition? MixRank is a free tool (upgrade for full options), that allows you to search through the Google Adwords inventory and see what keywords and web sites advertisers are bidding on, while also showing their ad copy. Don’t try and copy the ad campaigns, but instead use them for inspiration and ideas to expand your current reach. By looking up different advertiser ad copies and campaigns, you will be able to see how they are targeting their marketing towards new trends, holidays and hot topics/products.
Staying on top of current trends can make you a lot of money. Whether you are creating pay per click campaigns, or building out landing pages for cpv advertising, it’s all about engaging the user about something they are interested in right now!
