How to Avoid Five Common Pay Per Click Mistakes

Pay Per Click or PPC is one of the biggest breakthroughs in advertising on the internet and as made advertising on the world wide web very popular and very successful at the same time. It looks easy at first glance but may not be so easy or seem so easy when you start at it. But over time you will get the hang of it and you will find yourself benefiting from these campaigns in a huge way.
The learning part of it all doesn’t have to give you a negative experience. Though many people learn the hard way after spending too much money and seeing no results this is not the same of everyone who starts a PPC campaign for the first time. If you are a first timer you should read the following PPC tips and ensure that you don’t fall for them.

  1. Never use your home page as your landing page. This is the first mistake a lot of people make. This is true no matter which search engine you are using whether MSN, Yahoo or Google.  When your customers click on your ad they want it to take them directly to the page that contains what it is that the ad is about. So if it is a product, it should take them straight to the product page etc.
  2. Never have a bland landing page. The best way to ensure that you convert your traffic into sales s by making your landing page appealing and attractive. This way they will be more likely to make the purchase because they will get a good feeling just from the way the page is set up and designed. Remember a picture says a thousand words.
  3. Never use generic ad copy for your advertisements. You want your ads to be unique and appealing; calling the reader to action. If you use generic copy in your ads you can be certain that no one will be interested in clicking on them. One great way to make the copy appealing is to offer a solution to a problem that is found in your niche area and you will have people clicking like crazy.
  4. Never settle for low placement of bids. Though different search engines use different things to rank you in their listings, low placed bids are never a good thing. You want to get the highest placed bids, though these cost you more upfront you will be more likely to make sales off of them than off of low place bids.
  5. Never allow your ads to run over time without testing their effectiveness. If your campaign is not showing any signs of success then you may have a problem with your ad. The only way you will be able to tell is if you monitor the activity of your ads to see how well they work if any at all. This will allow you to make the necessary changes to get your PPC campaign going down the path to success.
