Google Adsense is a great way to make money from websites generating traffic. Anyone can start a website and start using Google Adsense to generate revenue from that website – I think this is what makes Google Adsense so effective and used by so many people worldwide.
When it comes to optimising your adverts and all of the many other different elements in PPC, it can be quite daunting and difficult at times to find the right setup for your Google Adsense account to generate the most cash. With this in mind, here are three top Adsense tips anyone of the program can use to help them increase the revenue their adverts produce.
#1 Start with Making High Quality Articles
I could think that the majority of people reading this were probably thinking of tips inside Adsense which will help them improve their earnings quick. However, let’s be honest that the biggest factor that will affect the CPC and CTR of your adverts is the quality of articles the adverts are being displayed on.
If an article is poorly targeted, hitting a topic with not much advertising competition or is generally poor quality with no clear topic of conversation, it is going to generate adverts that will have both low CPCs and low CTRs. At the end of the day, advertisers want their adverts shown on the best websites with very specifically targeted articles so that the advertisers know their adverts are extremely contextual to the content being displayed (resulting in the advert being more likely clicked) – advertisers will also pay more money for this too.
#2 Choose the Most Popular Ad Sizes
If there is less advertisers making image/rich media adverts for a certain size, we can all agree that the actual CPCÂ of the adverts for that ad size will be less: simply because there is less competition bidding for that ad size. For this reason, to increase the CPC of your advertising space, make sure you stick to using the most in demand advertising sizes. For Adsense, this seems to be the 336×280, 728×90, 468×60, 300×200 and the 160×600 skyscraper.
#3 Two Adverts Instead of Three
This might seem completely nonsensical. However, from experimenting, I have found that actually by only having two adverts on a website does increase the overall earnings as compared to having three adverts on there. Crazy right!
Let me explain this with an imaginary example of a website with 10,000 ad pageviews a month.
- By adopting three adverts, you achieve a CTR of 3% and a CPC of $0.30. The CTR is quite high since you have three adverts working all in harmony.
- By adopting two adverts, your CTR is reduced to 2%. However, by there being less supply for advertising space on your website, the average CPC for your advertising space has increased to $0.50.
Ultimately, this does mean that three adverts for this example produces $90 a month while two adverts produces $100 a month. So if you find your CPC increases more than your CTR decreases, adopt two adverts!
