In essence, this is the million, if not billion, dollar question. A website with traffic is worth much more in just about every single way to one without. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise to find that bloggers and website owners are constantly trying to find ways of increasing traffic to their website. The problem, I find, is that the majority of these people are trying to find  ways of increasing traffic to their website the easy way. From doing years and years of blogging, there are no ‘easy’ ways. There are short cuts, I admit. But, no easy ways. For this reason, here are the main ways I have found to have worked in driving traffic to a website.
#1 Organically
I know many people will not like this. However, it cannot be ignored that organic articles and SEOed articles are the best way to gain traffic to a website. I could give you many reasons for this. However, what I would like to point out is that every other form of traffic generation will be used and that is it. By this, I mean that once you have used the traffic generation and are done with it, the traffic will die down and there will be no real evidence that you have used that traffic generation.
On the other hand, with organic traffic, once you have created a SEOed article, it will be out there on the internet for potentially hundreds of years. For this reason, when you start gaining traffic with organic search results, you should be confident to know that the traffic will keep rolling and rolling in for years to come. There is evidence after using SEO.
#2 Social Media
Like with #1, this is a no brainer. With millions upon millions of people worldwide on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and more, it makes sense that you should advertise and promote your website to, potentially, millions of people. This is because:
- You are bound to get one social media user who will see your article or website and share it.
- That person will have enabled his followers and friends to see what he or she shared.
- Similarly interested people will go on to continue sharing the article until it becomes global!
The best way I can describe social media for a website is like an atomic bomb. The nuclear bomb works through  nuclear fission where atoms split, hit other atoms that have not split yet and cause them to split and so on and so on. Think of the atoms as humans tweeting?
Ultimately, what you should bring away from this article is the fact that gaining traffic for a website is never going to be an easy task. You do not get results on the internet with little effort input to begin with. Therefore, if you work hard on your website, it will pay off!
