Pay per click advertising is one of, if not the, best way to gain contextual traffic online and to advertise just about anything. However, this will not always mean that PPC will be a success to every single advertiser that uses it. The truth to the matter is that to make a success of PPC, you need to understand PPC. You need to understand what to change, what to adapt and improve based on experience, knowledge of PPC and your campaign. For this reason, here are three of the best PPC tips you can use to help make the most of PPC advertising.
Track and Analyse Everything
Pay per click advertising is an efficient form of advertising when done right. By right, I mean that you have to track and analyse absolutely everything so you can find every minor imperfection that is hindering the performance of your campaign. You can do this in AdWords, through using third party analytic programs such as Google Analytics on the landing page and so on.
You cannot go into PPC blind knowing that if there is a mistake in your campaign (that could potentially cost you a lot of money) you will not be able to see it. It is like a doctor doing surgery on a patient before taking tests of what is actually wrong with him/her!
Block IP Addresses
One of the main concerns associated with the problems of PPC is click fraud. This is basically when someone clicks on your advert not for being enticed into the content of it. Therefore, you will find that you will be spending out money to click frauders and not converting anything in return.
In essence, Google does a relatively good job of managing click fraud using their automated service. However, if you are not happy with the level of click fraud on your campaign, you can choose to block up to 50 IP addresses from interacting with your advert. This means if you see certain IP addresses continually click your advert, you can block them so you are not paying out to wasted traffic.
Use Ad Extensions
Ad extensions are great because they are free and enable search adverts in PPC to significantly increase their CTR. There are a wide range of ad extensions to choose from such as links to a phone number to reviews to even an app purchase. Therefore, you are more than likely to find an ad extension that can help you optimise your search advert.
Another reason to use ad extensions is that they enable your advert to look different from your norm. It is common for web users to block from reading adverts on search results because they know they are adverts: if you advert does not look like the stereotypical advert on search results, the web user is more likely to read and click onto it.
