Google Adsense is one of the easiest and most common ways to make money online, especially for web site owners who aren’t really marketers. All it takes to start making money with Google Adsense, is a web site, traffic and content. Adsense is one of the best platforms out there for generating revenue, because they do all of the work! You just need to place a line of code on your web site and ads will start serving on your site. At the end of the month you will get a check for all commissions and payments earned.

Unfortunately Google Adsense doesn’t perform the same on all web sites and depending on your content, you may only earn a couple pennies per click. With all of that said, let’s quickly cover three simple steps that can help improve your overall click through rates and the amount of money you earn with Google Adsense.

  1. Blend Adsense with Site Content
If you are placing Google Adsense on the side bar or top header of your web site and you are wondering why no one is clicking… it’s because no one wants to purposely click on advertisements. Blend in your Google Adsense with your actual content and you will find much better click through results.
  2. Use Different Adsense Sizes
The best performing Google Adsense size is the 336×280 banner size. It’s the largest and will show the most amount of ads and text copy. Since Google offers a lot of sizes in their banners, make sure you are not limiting yourself to just the traditional banner sizes we are all familiar with.
  3. Get Rid of Public Service Ads
If Google can’t find any advertisements for your web site, they may start serving public service announcement ads, which is basically free advertising for non-profit companies. If these banners start showing on your site and people click them, you will only lose visitors and not make any money. Make sure you disable these ads.

Now you should have a better idea how some web sites are earning more with Google Adsense, by making their advertisements blend in with their real content and getting people to click, you need to make sure you are doing the same! Look at our three quick tips again, and make sure you’ve done all three to Google Adsense placements on your web site.
