It is a question that has been asked by just about any blogger or website owner out there, ‘What is the best way to make money 3 Ways You Can Monetize Your Websitefrom my website?’ There are many different types of ways to monetize a website which I will go over three of the best. One thing you should remember is that with monetizing a website also comes dissatisfaction to the web user visiting your website. Unfortunately, due to pop-up and irrelevant adverts, adverts online, in general, have a stereotype for being ‘spammy’. This is why it is important that if you do monetize your website, you do so in a way that won’t annoy your audience or reduce the experience web users have while on your website.

#1 Pay Per Click Advertising

Pay per click advertising is the best way to monetize a website and that is a fact. You have control over every aspect of the adverts on your website – even the category of adverts that are displayed in your advert units (which in turn can help you increase your CPC).

Along with the control programs such as Google Adsense brings to website owners, PPC is the most used too because it generally makes the most money. I have experimented for years with different monetization methods and it always seems Google Adsense comes out on top with Media.net second.

#2 Banner Advertising

PPC is in a different league to it’s own in terms of making money off a website. The second place, which is a distant second place, is banner advertising and, in particularly, .

The great thing about banner advertising and BuySellAds is that all you have to do is install the code onto your website, make a profile on BuySellAds for your website and let the advertisers find you.

In some cases, banner advertising has worked better than PPC especially when it comes to selling small units such as 125×125 boxes. However, for the majority of websites, PPC works best (maybe in collaboration with banner advertising if you have enough space on your website).

#3 Private Advertising

Private advertising is a growing interest for me as if you find the right advertiser wanting to advertise something on your website, the profits can be much higher than banner advertising and PPC. The great thing about sponsored advertising is that it opens any (and I mean any) part of your website to advertising:

  • You could have advertising units like banner advertising has.
  • You could have sponsored articles (which would advertise an area which PPC and banner advertising could never take advantage of).
  • You could include an advert into your website’s template or background.
  • The possibilities are endless!

For this reason, it is always a good idea to make clear that you are open to private offers of advertising on your website so that to those that don’t want to use PPC of banner advertising, they can still advertise on your website.

I have chosen to leave out in-text advertising and other forms of advertising because I really do feel that they will never become as popular as PPC or banner advertising. PPC and banner advertising cannot be beaten as a source of steady income.
