Let’s get some things straight for those who still aren’t sure how PPV advertising works. What is PPV Advertising? The concept of PPV advertising is simple. You are basically paying every time someone sees your ads… which makes sense, since “PPV” stands for “pay per view”. PPV advertising is also referred to as “CPV” advertising, which is “cost per view”. Whether it’s PPV or CPV, you are paying for both methods on a per view basis. How PPV works?
Everyone is always talking about PPV and CPV advertising and how there is so much money to be made, but many people really don’t understand what PPV advertising is, or how it even works.

Just like you advertise in the search engines for a specific keyword, you can do the same thing with PPV advertising, but you can also advertise directly on URLs and web sites that you specifically request.

PPV advertisers and landing pages will popup behind the browser whenever someone has a specific software or download installed on their computer. These softwares are usually free programs or games, which the end user agrees to download for free, in exchange to receive advertising.

Through the user of PPV ad networks, you can start buying traffic across millions of web sites and start serving a massive amount of volume and impressions to your web site and landing pages in no time. Stay tuned for our next post, as we will cover some of the top PPV ad networks for you to advertise with.

Google is definitely on a roll. The number of updates, it has released in the last couples of months, are enough to unsettle even a veteran online marketer. First it was first Caffeine, then Panda, then Freshness, then Search, Plus Your World and now the latest update aimed at gunning down ads heavy sites. So, the entire search industry is heading toward something that can change the way we are used to see and feel the concept of SEO so far. So unless you wish to live in an uncertain live, practicing the worn out SEO techniques, let’s go down the details a wee bit to find out what the future waits for the Search industry and how we are going to face it headlong.

Caffeine: Caffeine update was rolled out in a beautiful summer day in 2010. However, this update was less algorithmic and more infrastructural. Caffeine was the outcome of Google’s increasing power to serve the best and the most recent content to the end users. In Pre-Caffeine era, Google had to update all the content layers before being able to serve the latest content to the users but with Caffeine, it got the super power to serve the latest content to the users around the world.

Though Caffeine has got nothing to do with ranking, it is quite understandable that sites that get frequented updated will be the winner in the race. Blogs, news sites etc or sites that are being updated regularly have been benefitted with this update.

Freshness Update: 2011 shows the launched of Freshness update. If Caffeine update was purely infrastructural, then Freshness update is for sure purely algorithmic. This update affected as much as 35% of total searches made every day. So quite expectedly, if you wish to make the most of this update, you need to make sure that you are mentioning Date and time against each post so that Google can easily pick up the date and give your website top ranking in some trending topic in the most pick hours. However, ranking will change as new content with similar or more updated information bob up.

Panda: This is probably the most famous or the most infamous update from Google after the great Florida update. The easy prey of this update are those sites which have been dedicated to add more garbage to web by adding spun content and all that. Though a number of updates have already been rolled out to make Panda more effective and more powerful to hunt out sites that are harboring thin content, it has ran into trouble as some webmasters have accused it to be partial in its targeting. However, we have no such intension to discuss such things here, you can have enough of them by visiting Google Webmaster Forum.

Now, the million dollar question is how you are supposed to stay aloof from the future of Panda update? There is no easy way out except that you have to produce rally high quality content that make people press the share button and get some facebook Likes and Google +. Make sure that you have no duplicate content in your website and let me warn you in advance, do not post images that are copy right protected or usually posted by others because Google is becoming pretty smart at scanning images. Say no to duplicate content and thin content and you will be able to save your skin in a whole new way.

Search, Plus Your World: This is the most contentious update from Google that may change the very concept of search. Google is fetching information from Google + account of the users and when they are logged in, it is serving them a unique and personalized search results by featuring updates from friends of their Google + profile. For say, if you are searching for something like – “restaurant”, you are mostly like to get information shared or written by people you know. This is more engaging and more exciting than scouting for information available in web pages created by people whom you might have never met personally.

Now to get your website appear top in some competitive keywords, you need to make sure that you have an impressive presence in Google + and definitely, the quality has to be above the average.

Penalty Ad Heavy Sites: A new update has recently been unveiled by Google where it cleared the fact that ads heavy sites are going to invite penalty in one form or the other. From now on Google bot will be taking into account the layout of the blogs and that means, you should not put too many ads in the Above the Fold section of the blog otherwise, you will be courting a ban from Google.

Keep the content clean and use ads judiciously and you will not have to fear the devil anymore.

It is clear from the numerous amount of PPC programs that are entering the online advertising market that there is still space for new programs and companies to enter. One of these pay per click programs, Ad Dynamo, was created in 2009 to gain some of the success Adsense and AdWords had gained for Google. However, after attempting to use them numerous times from an advertiser and publisher perspective, I can clearly state that AdWords and Adsense is still by far the best of them all.

Before I start the review, let me tell you a bit more about Ad Dynamo. They have looked at the success of AdWords and Adsense and tried to copy that while ironing out anything that the advertisers and publishers didn’t like about AdWords and Adsense. For one, Ad Dynamo understand there are people that are publishers and advertisers. Therefore, they join the accounts so that you have one universal account. I have to say, it is a lot easier to work with one account than two!

The user interface of Ad Dynamo is also very pleasing to work with. Pink, although seems an extremely strange colour to pick, works. You have clear statistics about your advert’s success be it as a advertiser of publisher. However, being new to the market, they still don’t have the level of detail in the statistics that AdWords and Adsense offer. There is catching up to do still.

As a publisher, I have been fairly disappointed with them (it reminds me of Infolinks: the CPC). You will be lucky to get a CPC average of $0.20 +. This is due to the low level of advertisers: there is less competition for ad positions on websites. This also makes the adverts not as contextual which reduces CTR. From this, advertisers don’t get clicks which results in them changing to alternatives such as AdWords. It’s a vicious cycle I believe Ad Dynamo need to get out of.

From an advertiser’s point of view, Ad Dynamo has some serious potential. The adverts are easy to make with keywords enabled to help you target your adverts to the right websites. However, an online advertising program can only work when there is a strong balance between publishers to advertisers:

If there are more publishers than advertisers, the publishers will find it hard to make money from the low level of demand (low CTR and CPC). This is good for advertisers though.

If there are more advertisers than publishers, the advertisers will find that the CPC of adverts will rise. They will need to pay more per click to gain consistency in CTR. This is great for publishers.

Balance between both advertisers and publishers will mean both advertisers and publishers will benefit from PPC.

Programs such as AdWords and Adsense are balanced compared to Ad Dynamo. Whatever one of the unbalanced options Ad Dynamo is, it is clear they have too many one from the other. This is a problem which causes many problems.

I have done quite a few posts about Ad Dynamo on my website that might be of use to you too. My opinion of them are slowly changing. With any new business, there are going to be flaws. Ad Dynamo have addressed these and aim to continually improve the experience for advertisers and publishers alike. After all, Ad Dynamo wouldn’t exist without them!

We all work in the PPC advertising world, and of course we are ll looking at stats every day and night. After a little while of the same repetitive actions, we start losing our focus on fundamentals, and the basics of PPC Marketing. We are going to go over some of the most fundamental and basic, yet important parts of managing a performing and planned PPC campaign.

Ad Testing

Always perform ad testing. Always perform ad testing ALWAYS PERFORM AD TESTING. Get it? This will not be a singular even, but something that you keep doing over and over. Split testing always, on all ads at all times, if you can. There are no acceptable excuses to not do this simple but important thing.

We sit and dream up ads that we can knock people into tomorrow with 60 words or less, but then we forget to test out the ads and see how they are doing, and if you need improvement in your processes. There is a reason this was first, so pay attention.

Landing pages, please

This is another one that we shouldn’t have to go over, but specifically I am talking about making sure you have relevant landing pages to the product. This obviously, will increase your conversion rates, but many forget this lesson all the time. Whenever you implement a landing page the is perfectly relevant to your ads and keywords, you will always have a well performing page.

Please, please, please do not point all of your PPC ads to some generic homepage. NO, send them to the order, or conversion page. They already had to do work to get to your site, now don’t make them wander through your website trying to figure out how to give you money. Let’s make it easy for them to spend money on your product you are promoting, yes? Please send your people to a landing page that is optimized to convert traffic.

Keyword Research

We have been over this multiple times now, but I feel the need to throw it in here, because it is indeed a basic. Low cost per click+high converting traffic=win. Try and find that combination. If I was hiring a PPC guy, the first thing I would make sure he was doing is keyword research, nad if the answer was no, I would find a guy that makes that answer yes. This is comparable to driving a car without having oil in the car. You may be able to turn it on and drive a block or two, but pretty soon you are gonna wreck your ride. Rather than just roll the dice, do a little research, please. this is the basics, remember.

Budgeting

Setup campaign budgets, so that you can handle clients that have limited marketing dollars to spend. Tread carefully with these clients, and see everything across the board perform well. You don’t want your heavy-traffic keywords performing well, but nothing else. If you have those few keywords in your account that drive the most clicks, they will shut off your account long before the other long-tail keywords even get the chance to perform!

Plan carefully with your budget, and set your budget with those people that are tightwad’s so to speak.

While there is a lot to managing a PPC campaign, just make sure not to forget about these basics.

January 27, 2012

Dear John:

Thank you for your recent letter to Senator Lee regarding S. 968, the PROTECT IP Act.

When the Judiciary Committee first received this bill, Senator Lee raised a number of concerns about portions of the bill that could threaten Internet security and stifle innovation in the online retail market. At the time, Senator Lee pledged to work with the chief cosponsors of the bill, Judiciary Chairman Senator Patrick Leahy and Ranking Member Senator Chuck Grassley, to fix the offending provisions in the bill.

After several months of trying to find the proper balance between protecting intellectual property rights and not unduly burdening online businesses, the Senator determined that the bill as it stands still goes too far and he will not support it.

That said, Senator Lee still believes that the protection of private property rights is an essential foundation of our nation’s free market economy, and online piracy poses a significant threat to the intellectual property rights of American innovators. He remains committed to addressing this problem and finding the right solution to hold infringing pirate web sites accountable to the rule of law.

For more on what Senator Lee is working on, you can follow him on Facebook at www.facebook.com/senatormikelee and on Twitter at www.twitter.com/SenMikeLee.

Thank you again for writing and please don’t hesitate to contact our office if there is anything we can do to be of assistance in the future.

Best,

Peter Blair

However, in the face of failure PPC software also allows independent business leader to change their advertising strategy in a variety of ways to increase they are client-customer base. For example, advertisements can be crafted to attract any specific group of people based on a variety of factors, which can be selected by the independent user. Therefore, the advertisements created by PPC-based software can be designed to meet both the independent business owners’ specifications and bear prospective customers needs and desires as well.

Some of these factors include, race, ethnicity, personal interests, sex, and age. Therefore, if you wish to market your product to African-American males between the ages of fifteen and twenty, then all you need to do is input the data into the program, and the program will select the proper websites, which are likely to be visited by people within this demographic group. At the same time, those companies who operate within specific regions of the world can also specify a target audience lived within the target area.

So it is completely possible for any beauty salon, which is just beginning, to use PPC technology to market itself to young females between the ages of 17 and 25, who live within 6 miles of Shibuya, a suburb of Tokyo, Japan. In those people who wish to research the uses of pay per click advertising technology and software may wish to visit www.PPC.org.

Furthermore, those of us who begun to use PPC-based software many wish to research the newest and most innovative PPC tips and PPC tricks available on the same website. The use of pay per click advertising software will surely have ramifications for your business. With PPC, failure could be a symptom of success.

Based on this information, it is entirely possible to use state-of-the-art advertising technologies such as pay per click advertisements, or PPC, and still fail in the market. Perhaps, the economy is not robust enough to allow people the security to purchase your products. Perhaps, fashion has dictated that your product is not the latest and greatest thing available. You can never be sure. However, using pay per click advertising makes it quite simple to turn failure into success in a few short months.

While many other advertising techniques are unrecoverable in the face of failure, the use of PPC-based software such as Google AdWords allows independent users to use a variety of features, which can resurrect a failing advertising campaign. One of these features is the ability of users to track the number of visitors to their websites at regular intervals, and to calculate the percentage of visitors who actually become clients of their businesses after visiting their sites.

Secondly, this program also allows independent business owner to tabulate the amount of money being generated by each pay per click advertisement that is posted to their websites.
